Significant Investor Stream Overview
The Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188) Significant Investor stream is designed for high-net-worth individuals who are willing to invest at least AUD 5 million into complying Australian investments.
Important 2026 Update: As of 31 July 2024, the Australian Government has closed the Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP) to new applications. This article serves as a compliance guide for existing subclass 188 holders and those whose applications were lodged prior to the closure. For new talent and investors, the National Innovation Visa (subclass 858) has replaced this pathway.

- Residency Requirement: You must reside in Australia for at least 40 days per year for the duration of the provisional visa (calculated cumulatively).
