Migration Queensland criteria for Skilled Nominated (Permanent) visa  (subclass 190)

To qualify for a Queensland nomination, you need to satisfy both the criteria set by the Australian Department of Home Affairs and the criteria specified by Migration Queensland for your selected visa category.

  1. Attain a points test result of 75 or higher (except for Trades occupations* which require 70 or higher).
  2. Hold an occupation listed on the Home Affairs relevant list of eligible skilled occupations (LIN19/051)
  3. Demonstrate Competent English or higher proficiency (except for occupations requiring a higher level of English).
  4. Provide proof of residing in Queensland and engaging in full-time post-qualification employment (minimum of 30 hours per week) in your nominated or closely related occupation for three months directly preceding the Expression of Interest (EOI) lodgement. Continuous employment in the nominated or closely related occupation is mandatory during EOI assessment.
  5. Provide evidence of sustained full-time employment (minimum of 30 hours per week) for an additional twelve months at the time of EOI lodgement in your nominated occupation.
  6. Commit to residing and working in Queensland for a duration of two years from the date of visa grant.

Caveats for selected occupations

  1. Accountants (General)
    • Only applicants employed in an accounting firm or a medium or larger sized business will receive an invitation. For this purpose, a medium sized business is characterised as a business that employs 20 people or more.
    • must be a CPA, CA or IPA, or are studying towards becoming a CPA, CA or IPA.
  2. Internal and External Auditors
    • must have a job as an Auditor (not an Accountant).
  3. Cooks and Chefs
    • No takeaway or fast-food businesses.
