The Department of Home Affairs will introduce two new skilled regional provisional visas starting from November 2019. The two new visas are:
- Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) – this visa is suitable for people who are sponsored by approved sponsors (employers) in regional Australia; and
- Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) – this visa is suitable for people who are nominate by a State or Territory government or sponsored by an eligible family member to live and work in regional Australia.
Regional Development Australia Central West (RDACW) are working in partnership with the NSW Department of Industry to deliver the 489-visa program in NSW for the Central West Region. For a list of RDA Central West regions, please click on this link to take you to the RDACW region map.
The Department of Home Affairs have set stringent criteria to be met by prospective applicants. Under the news visas, migrants are expected to live and work in regional Australia for at least three years before they are eligible to apply for permanent residency. Thus, applicants bear the onus to prove they have lived in regional Australia for three years by providing evidence to that effect.
The new visas will see almost 700 eligible occupations in the Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa and 500 eligible occupations in the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa.
