IT PROFESSIONAL YEAR COURSE (ITPY)

An introduction IT PY

Professional year courses in IT (IT PY) give a critical understanding and further development of skills as well as the training you need to start a career in the Australian IT workforce. Developed alongside the Australian Computer Society (ACS) and the Department of Home Affairs (DOHA) the program is designed to overcome the Australian skills shortage and assist international students find work in their chosen career path with full abilities and the training to succeed.

Entry requirements
  • Completion of a recognised IT degree in Australia (Bachelor or Masters)
  • A minimum PTE-A score of 50 (or above) or IELTS minimum score of 6.0 in all 4 competencies or equivalent (3 years validity).
  • Applied for or obtain a current Graduate Visa (subclass 485). Minimum visa duration 12 months (no less)

Professional year will give 5 points towards migration status when fully completed.

Course Fees

Fees range from $11,500 – $12,930 dependant on the course provider.

Course Duration

Duration of the course ranges from 44-50 weeks with at least 12 weeks of the course time being practical experience with an internship that the provider will obtain with host employers, if you are already working within the IT field with a recognised employer, your provider and employer can approve for you to do your internship within your position if site visits and appropriate checks are obtained.

Australian Technical Management College (ATMC)

ATMC has available courses in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. They have keen highly experienced trainers who ensure graduates are work ready and focus heavily on ensuring by graduation those who take the course are equipped with the practical skills and knowledge needed for the workplace. They offer intake dates twice a month from June-December.

Performance Education (PE)

They are Professional Year’s number one provider for the last 9 years. They have courses available in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide with Highly skilled trainers and a total of 22,500 graduates who’ve completed the IT PY or Accounting PY course in the last 10 years.

They have 3 intakes a year in June, July and August with dates available Monday – Sunday.

Queensland International Business Academy (QIBA)

QIBA has been offering ITPY courses for 32 years and has expanded to offering courses in Sydney, Canberra and Hobart as well as Brisbane. They have high quality course material and internship connections. With 1900 graduates they have a 40% success rate in converting course required internships into full time employed positions. They focus on creating a “safe, comfortable, caring learning environment” .

Education Centre of Australia (ECA)

Established in 2008, ECA has produced 7500 Industry based employable graduates. They offer courses in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. For ITPY enrolled students they offer free additional support classes and development workshops.

Host companies that partner with NAVITAS are briefed in how best to assist interns in achieving training to reach their professional aspirations. They have a 100% success rate in finding suitable internships for their student’s respective fields. They offer courses in all of Australia’s capital cities in each state/territory.
